Facilities Construction's Banner

Our transformative projects at Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) and Miri Hospital are pivotal in addressing the increasing demand for medical and clinical services in Sarawak. By significantly upgrading these key healthcare facilities, we are dedicated to providing high-quality care and ensuring that the people of Sarawak receive the best care they deserve.

As we move forward, our future plans involve expanding hospital projects across Sarawak through our extensive experience to deliver customised and innovative solutions that advance healthcare infrastructure, setting us apart in the industry.

The Redevelopment of Sarawak General Hospital Project (HUS)

WEIDA has signed a 20-year agreement with the Ministry of Health to upgrade Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) with new facilities, including a Day Care Centre, Medi-Hotel, commercial outlets, a food court, and Multi-Storey Car Parks.

Sarawak General Hospital (HUS), the largest in Sarawak, was built in 1925 and has 1,005 beds with an 80% occupancy rate. It’s the main referral hospital for southern Sarawak and a regional centre for advanced treatments including cardiology, radiotherapy, and cancer care. HUS also serves as a teaching and research institution, collaborating with educational agencies to advance various medical fields.

Under this agreement, WEIDA oversees every aspect of the project—from planning and design to landscaping, testing, commissioning, financing, and construction, as well as to carry out asset management services for the facilities. This comprehensive financial responsibility distinguishes us from many others. WEIDA also manages the operation of the Medi-Hotel and Multi-Storey Car Parks.

The redevelopment of Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) under this public-private partnership delivers high-quality healthcare infrastructure, featuring premium facilities such as:

  • Day Care Centre Block

A three-storey facility with seven operating theatres, 60 beds for holding and recovery, and a blood bank and pathology laboratory.

  • Meditel & Multi-Storey Car Park (North)

A 15-storey building featuring 160 hotel rooms, 968 car park spaces, nine commercial outlets, and a food court with seven stores.

  • Multi-Storey Car Park (West)

A six-storey structure providing 821 parking spaces and an elevated helipad.

Miri Hospital Extension Project

The successful design, construction, and completion of the Miri Hospital Extension Project in April 2024 demonstrates our commitment to addressing regional healthcare needs.

Miri Hospital, established in 1995, is a 349-bedded secondary referral hospital located in the northern region of Sarawak. Serving a population of 1.5 million, it is a crucial medical centre in the province. To meet the increasing demand for healthcare services and help ease the overcrowding at Sarawak General Hospital, a request for an extension block has been in place since 2014.

This new facility enhances the hospital’s capacity with:

  • 328 Beds

    Including first-class, women’s, men’s, children’s, and obstetrics wards.

  • Comprehensive Medical Facilities

Featuring main and maternity operating theatres, intensive care units (ICU, PICU, NICU), an emergency and trauma department, and specialised clinics (surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, and gynaecology).

  • Ample Parking

900 car and 300 motorcycle parking spaces.
